There's been a lot of talk about 5 minute a day Artisian bread..
and it's fine and dandy if you don't have a lot of time
Myself I prefer the hand kneaded kind but none the less this bread does make for a fast and tasty French/Italian style bread to slice and turn into garlic bread.
You can find more about the bread and the recipe here
As some of you already know I have two turbo ovens.. one mini-NuWave and a larger one that has an extender ring to keep the heating element up away from the food.
I have baked lots of items in them but never bread so I decided I'd make up a batter of Artisian dough and give it a try.
Most of the bread recipes say the crust gets crispier if you have hot water under it so I added one cup of hot water to the turbo oven bowl, placed a rack on it and the pan with my bread on top.
At first it got very steamy in there
You can see my stainless steel extender ring on top of the bowl..
but anyway all the steam finally calmed down and got to baking
I set temp for 400 and within 30 minutes I had this lovely loaf of bread.
And I have lots more batter in the fridge for another day.
In less then an hour you can go from dough to baked loaf to garlic cheese bread
I'm guessing that from the 6 1/2 cups of flour, some salt and water that goes into making the dough...
that you can make at least 6 or more loafs of this bread and considering that just the other day I paid $2.49 for two loafs of French bread that was no bigger then this
That would be a considerable savings
Besides you can have it hot and fresh in less then 40 minutes.
